Research Park

I love this picture. It's one of my favorites. I feel like it is a really strong image. It was taken in Research Park. There's color and lines with in the tree leaves, trunks, and sky. There's also lines with the sun beaming through the trees.

Piano

This is a picture of my piano. Music, just like photography, is a huge part of my life. It's help me through many situations in my life and is just something that's always been there. I am self taught on piano. I can read music, but I just choose not to. I really enjoy this photo. The black and white effect gives it a sense of simplicity and serenity. The angle, is unique, and shows a lot of lines and definition.

Sophia

This is my dog, Sophia. Dogs are one of my favorite things to take pictures of. I know, that is probably cliche, but I don't care. Dogs are so much fun. They're playful and funny, and make for great photography subjects. They have just as much personality as people in my eyes. And like people or flowers, dogs also come in so many different shapes, sizes, and colors, so they give a lot of variety and options for photographers.

Long Live Rock & Roll

This is a picture that I took and edited of my boyfriend, Daniel. He is a musician and plays guitar. This was at a show with his old band, The First to Rise. I love this picture. The colors are so vibrant, there are plenty of lines, and I feel like it really just draws you in.

Flowers

I love taking pictures of flowers. I think they are one of the most beautiful things to photograph. There are so many different sizes, shapes, lines and colors. There are also a lot of different vantage points of flowers which means that there are so many different things a photographer could do when taking pictures of flowers.

My Love

This is my boyfriend Daniel and I. This boy is everything to me. He pushes me, encourages me, and makes me a better person. I have him to thank for where I'm at with photography now. I always loved photography, but I got away from it for the longest time. Then, he and I started dating. Daniel is a musician, and when I go to his shows, I always take pictures. It only took one show for me to rediscover my love for taking pictures. I fell in love all over again, but this time, on a much deeper level. I was scared though. I knew photography was a very difficult business to make it into. Daniel knows first hand what this is like. Music is also an extremely difficult business to make it into, but he told me that if you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get it. You won't let anyone or anything stand in your way, or discourage you. He inspires me everyday, and is a constant reminder that I can do this, and he lets me know all the time that no matter what happens, I've got his support. He totally opened my eyes, lifted my spirits, and made me realize even more that photography is my true calling.

Photography

I just want to take a minute and talk about why I love photography and why I chose to do this as my career. Pictures to me are everything. They capture moments and memories. They tell stories and show emotions. Things that words would never be able to truly describe. Also, when I get behind that camera, its like I'm in another world. My own world. I see things so differently through a lens than I do with my own eyes. And my creative mind goes crazy. Ideas just come flooding in. It's not just taking pictures that I am in love with, its editing too. Its like my picture is a blank canvas and my editing program is my art box. I get the upmost joy out of taking an already incredible picture, and transforming it into something even better, taking it to new levels, and creating a piece of art work. Photography is my calling, my passion, and everything I've ever wanted to do.

Rose by Ansel Adams

I am in love with this photo by Ansel Adams. The detail is incredible. You can see every line on each petal of the rose, as well as each line and divot of the wood. I really enjoy the contrast of the rose and the wood as well. The wood gives a strong, masculine feel, while the rose gives a soft, delicate feel. Total opposites, but they go so well together.

Landscape by Ansel Adams

I absolutely love this photography taken by Ansel Adams. There is so much detail and character, even though it is black and white. The lighting is also something I really enjoy. This photo and its lighting just gives the mood of peace and tranquility. My favorite part of this picture though, is the reflection on everything in the water. The reflection is almost as detailed as the actual landscape.

Robert Capa

Robert Capa is a Hungarian born photographer. He shot photos of soldiers at war. He covered 5 wars and was known for his unique photos. His photos were unique due to the fact that he was very close to the soldiers, often in the trenches, when he took his photos. Other war photographers took their photos at a safe distance.

Dorothea Lange

Dorothea Lange was born in 1895 in Hoboken, New Jersey. She made the decision to become a photographer after high school and studied at Columbia University. By 1918, she was operating a very successful portrait studio with her husband. Dorothea is known for her black and white photos of the Great Depression. Though these are photos of a very sad subject, in my opinion, they are beautiful. Dorothea did an excellent job of capturing the emotions of people suffering from the Great Depression, and I believe each photo tells a story.
